Look out for the new range of Tom Tom due out this month.
I have the Tom Tom 700 and the new Road Angel Plus. The down side of these two units is a cluttered dash.
I'm now going to replace my Tom Tom with a Pioneer AVIC X1R, which means just the RA+ on the dash and this now has no wires and it can be charged for an 8 hour battery life.

Hi There, Like many others, my t350 is not my only car. The best solution I could find was a mobile that would run tomtom (I've got a nokia 9300, but there are quite a few types now - look at their website) and then I bought a bluetooth gps receiver (I've got two, one for each car). Thus (assuming a phone upgrade would be free/cheap) for less than £200 outlay I've got satnav on my phone and have little/no mess in the car.
I mount my phone in the space under the centre console and the GPS box is in the back.
It works perfectly in both cars.

My Girlfriends got a Nokia 6630 and would like to do this.
What's involved in setting it up, and how much ?
Hi There Mr John (no idea how a I posted the same comment twice
).
You can't buy (legally) the tomtom mobile software without getting the tomtom gps unit too.
That costs about £180 - £200 complete.
Setting up :-
1. Install the software on the phone. Assuming you can connect the phone to your pc, the install's pretty simple.
2. GPS unit. This connects to the phone via bluetooth. I have the GPS unit permanently wired into the car (but not in my t350 - I would be very wary of this, connect it to the ignition wire). Just make sure it's near enough to a window to get a signal (mine's ontop of the rear wheel arch).
I also bought a second GPS receiver (for the t350) for about £40 that is solar powered. Thus there's no wiring. It's never gone flat on me, but I have to keep a cigarette charger in the car, just in case. Two receivers means I can hop from car to car and not worry about having a gps receiver.
Finally, if you go to the following link :-
www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtompoi.php
You can download lots of points of interest, like pcworld, supermarkets etc. This can include speed cameras (but there is a small charge).
Good luck
Bigman.

I'm very happy and impressed with my Pioneer Avic X-1R head unit replacement. It looks just like a regular headunit until you press a button which produces a decent sized touch screen. It looks really cool up and thanfully doesn't wobble at all on the move. The sat nav is excellent, it covers the whole of Europe in one cd with incredible detail and the ever helpful Gatwick tvr installed the aerial neatly behind the rear view mirror, putting it completely out of sight.
Quite a few TVR owners have them installed, sorry I don't have pics otherwise I'd have posted them.

aye it's a few pennies like, aroond the 1k mark but it's a great system with lots of 'bond' appeal plus is a very neat sat nav installation. Sound quality is certainly no worse than the standard head unit and with a speaker upgrade ought to be better.
Thanks. Gives me something to thin about when I see Carl for a MetaSAT tracker.
