I have an 05 plate tvr t350 which after recently being serviced by a local dealer, which is since no longer trading, I found out that the car required some warranty work. After being unable to contact the dealer that I brought the car from I was advised that they were no longer trading. I spoke to TVR, which their advice was I would have to take my car to under go warranty work at TVR Power in Coventry, which I find totally unacceptable. I have since found out recently through the TVR CAR CLUB SHANE@TVRENGINEERING in Stockport. Shane sorted my problem out which the dealer FAILED to do one 2 occasions, and I would recommend SFR to any customer. After speaking to TVR I was told that my 3 year 36000 mile would be void if I had the car serviced out of the dealer network. WHICH after checking LEGALLY whether this is the case. I found it NOT to be true therefore I would NEVER take my car back to either tvr the factory or a tvr dealer ship. I WOULD ADVISE ANYBODY WHO IS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY CANNOT GET THEIR CAR SERVICED OUTSIDE OF THE DEALER NETWORK, BECAUSE IT EFFECTS THEIR WARRENT TO GIVE SHANE @ SFR ENGINEERING A CALL.
Apparently. There were some articles in AutoExpress recently. The legeislation has been changed, and as long as proper OEM parts are fitted (and the garage is registered with whatever body garages need to be registered with) then work does not have to be undertaken by dealerships.

AFAIK according to EC Block Exemption rules ;
Providing that the non franchised repairer uses manufacturer approved parts and follows manufacturers service schedules and repair procedures ,the manufacturer would have no reason not to honour its warranty.
Having used Shane for TVR work myself, im very confident his work will be to the correct standard - as will be the parts used in the repair.

Slightly off topic but I reckon that the fabled Main Dealer Service History seems to be less important to enlightened private TVR buyers these days. A load of David Batty or SFR etc stamps in a service book can be a plus point as far as many are concerned. Experience of certain TVR main dealers was sufficient to send me scurrying to a recommended independent immediatley and Ive had no reason to change my mind since.
The downer is if you want to trade-in. A lack of TVR FSH means a lower price which is frustrating but not suprising. No problem selling my old Chim privately with a book full of specialist bills.
