I'm thinking of buying a second hand 911 from a private seller that was serviced by J Z Machtech only a month ago. I'm trying to work out whether I need to get the car checked out by Porsche (at a cost of £235 and a load of hassle), when the sevice revealed no problems and had the necessary work done. Has anyone had any experience of this company and servicing 911s?

One of the best Porsche garages anywhere. Know their stuff. I would suggest that you call them, mention your car and ask them whether it's worth an inspection. Given the cost of these cars I personally would get an inspection just to be on the safe side. Trouble is I would ask JZM to do the PPI for me.

My experience with JZM has been second to none. When they do a service on a car they seem to do a very thorough check on just about everything. They even keep telling me that my intensive screen wash pump isn't working!! If you call JZM and talk initially to Jonas (the MD) I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction.

Thanks all. I've talked to JZM and they told me what was carried out in the service, and read me the engineer's notes on the service. The only thing commented on that wasn't done was that they said the front disks should have an eye kept on them, which I think means that they may need replacing at the next service in 11 months time.
I would also vouch for JZM.
I took my newly acquired 993 to my local OPC when I first bought it, to get it thoroughly checked out. I was so unimpressed with the OPC, where they seemed to talk a load of old tosh, that I immediately then took it to JZM.
What a great bunch of guys, who really know what they're talking about.

FWIW took my car to JZM last year who lightened my wallet considerably but did a very good job. This year I did not have the time to sort out a run up to JZM so had the service done at a London independant. Not so impressed! Next year, I will be more organised and go back to JZM.
Found the same with JZM - top notch work at OPC prices.
Try Jaz in Wembley - just as good and half the price
