Just got insurance renewal quote - £453 from adrian flux for my 86 350i. Thought it was a bit steep and I got 3 online quotes from direct line, norwich union & lancaster - £600, £750 & £1100 - FECK ME WHO HAS BEEN CRASHING WEDGES to make these prices??? - or is it just me that they don't like and not my car?

edited - it must be the car cos my Saab Aero on 25k business miles pa and worth twice as much as the wedge was £700 .... grrrr

Suggest you go through a broker or company that specializes in classics.
Mine is through Heritage Classic arranged through a broker in Birmingham.

12 months + breakdown and agreed value, 3K miles PA - from memory circa £180.
Mind you everyone's situation is different - I suspect it's me age.

It's due for renewal in May - no claims or anything, be interesting to see what the premium will be.

I used Classicline Insurance...very competitive. For my 400SE I'm paying £270 (5k mileage limit), albeit of course depends on age!!

thanks for the replies - will try some of em

I am 33, so it will be more than some of you pensioners but I am comparing it to my other car insurance which is for 25k business miles pa on a £12k 210bhp car for £700 as oppose to 5k non commuting limited miles for a £6k wedge, currently on a classic policy with Adrian Flux, but as I said they want £450 to renew it

Seems to me that wedge prices have gone up for insurance, when i first got it it was about £280 and i was 5 years younger!
