alfa 156 cambelt change

I would like to know how much it would cost to change the cambelt on my Selespeed 2.0l which has done 55K. I am sure that the cambelt has not been changed, as the service record doesn't show it.

Mine was done recently by Alfanet of Bristol for £350, including all the pulleys.

Ours cost £350......not a dealer, I might add, but as he looks after my 300ZX I was happy for him to do it.

Cambelt from Bristol Alfa dealer quoted @ 1275 + Vat
same from Alfanet £400 all in.

even used to work for said Alfa dealership.

I just have had my cambelt, aux belt, tensioners and variators changed for £600 which includes labour and VAT. Wow. Never knew Alfa spares were OTT.

Just bought a 2 litre twin spark 157 with 70k on and am searching for a place to have mine done, tried alfa dealer in bristol and they want 720 for cambelt or 820 with service. Cardiff specialist want 500 all in. Will try alfanet in the morning, what they like?

I purchased a alfa 156 with 45k miles yesterday with the impression the cambelt does NOT need replacing untill 72k miles, but after reading your articles you mention a 36k cambelt change-
was this extra cambelt change added after the car was launced?

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago.

All the belts, pulleys, tensioner, variator and water pump for £400.

Alfa were exceedingly slow in issuing any kind of revised cambelt interval notice out ot the dealer network; certainly after the 156 was introduced. They didn't even bother referring to the earlier 145 and 146 models, despite them having the same problem

It's worth noting that Simonstone have since lost their Alfa franchise as part of the UK shake-up of cr4p dealerships.

Yep, I know. My point was simply that £1000+ for a cambelt change is sheer robbery. Most specialists charge £300 - £400 in my experience.
