Classic Insurance
Discussion
I was offered a 'Modern Classic' policy by Norton (Birmingham - don't have the number with me) on a 94 Chim for about £370. Mannings also quoted about the same price for a normal policy, which included an introductory discount based on max ncd from my every-day car policy so I took that. I will compare their renewal price this year with Norton again.
I currently insure my 96 Chimaera on a classic policy through classic line - I think..? They were cheaper than all the usual ones I tryed last year, Mannings, Adrian Flux, Direct Line, Tesco, etc.. for reference i'm 28, living in Milton Keynes, limited milage of 7500 pa, agreed value of £19k - had to prove condition of the car by sending in several photo's, 10 yrs no claims. it was just below £600 - inc break down cover. The cheapest i found before this was about £800.
They called it a 'future classic' policy - although I'm due for renewal at the end of this month, and just been quoted by Sunninghill - £566 with full trackday cover. I really missed my trackdays last year, so I'll be renewing with them this time round.

As a new TVR owner i was expecting the worst when phoning for insurance. I still wanted to keep my everyday car so thought i would have to start from scartch with no claims bonuses. Suninghill were recommended and were willing to mirror my no claims onto this new policy and quoted me around the five hundred mark. Said the only thing they couldnt provide was to protect the no claims bonus.
I insure my 98 4.0 Chim with Direct Line, not a classic policy but at 547.00 quid for no mileage limit was cheaper than anything in the club magazine. Reckon it would not be too difficult to get 'market value' if the unthinkable happened if you speak nicely to nearest Tiv dealers/indie garages.
