Now then, folks of the Ferrari forum!

I've been a TVR nut for a while and am about to probably change the T350 for something else TVR but I'm seriously considering going towards a Testarossa. I've read a fair bit on the subject and from what I can see the Testarossa's now between the £30K - £40K mark for a 1990 ish model which puts it square in my sights (was expecting to spend £35K on a replacement T350). They are also being billed as "under appreciated" which in my mind means a significant lack of depreciation.

I've got another car for everyday use so this would be my weekend blast/ show it off car.

Any advice on pitfalls, etc.? I live in Aberdeen so there are no TVR dealers which means i'm happy to travel 300+ miles to a good dealer (HHC in Hexham!) and servicing is usually £400+ for a minor, £800+ for a major. Is this Ferrari-running kind of money?

Note: the one I've got my eye on is the Blue one at Foskers - are they colour sensitive?

I have never run one but click the Verdi's link at the top to look at their servicing menu for an idea of costs.

If it's a weekend car - get it!

The engines are very robust if serviced properly and the smooth turbine like power will be like nothing you have ever experienced in a TVR.

The big service will be the cam belt change which i am presuming, similar to the 348, is an engine out job. This needs to be done every 3 years or 20-30k miles depending how rich/safe you want to feel.

The later 512TR has better handling, a bit more power and improved interior and wheels, but I haven't seen a TR under 40k yet.

The colour? Yes, red will sell better, but buy what you like and factor it into the price you pay. If the dealer says it makes no differenec, ask why it is called "re-sale red"!

visit fcars.co.uk and talk to Barabus (Simon). He has had a series 1 Testa for a while and loves it.

The TR is the car I will get as soon as I manage to release some more cash ... er, and I'd probably try and find another yellow one!

Good luck.

A Testa was always a childhood dream for me. Fortunately, I found the perfect car at a main dealer. It was one of the very last ones made, a 92 K plate with 11K miles. Much as I love the car, I will be selling it shortly and looking for another Lambo...

Foskers have just sent me some photos of the blue Testa they have - very very tempting.

But, they're down south (Kent) and I'm up north so I can see a train trip and a lost weekend at a Ferrari dealership...

Thanks all but I got my arm twisted on Wednesday by a beautiful Tuscan mk2. So, perhaps I'll think of a Ferrari next time.
