Another thread just reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask for nearly a year....

On the E36 convertible how do you lock the doors when you're driving? If I put the latch down I can't get the doors to unlock without resorting to the central locking on the keyfob?!?!

Also, how do you lock the car when the roof is down and activate the alarm without the motion sensors????

Er, can't you just pull the door release handle once to pop the lock up, release then pull again to open the door? That's how it works on my E36 cab...

Not sure you can with the standard alarm but why would you want to? If the car was being left out of sight, I wouldn't want someone to have the ability of getting at anything inside without triggering the alarm. Not that I'd leave mine unattended with the roof down...

Doh! You're absolutely right they do open easily from the inside after all! I've no idea how I got confused with that one>?!?! At first I thought maybe its just when I have the roof down...but no. I guess I must have just assumed they wouldn't unlock as I never noticed the locks pop up when I pulled the handle and ended up using the keyfob to get out. How embarrassing......

As for the alarm motion sensors....could be useful for leaving dog in the car (not that a dog would get near it). It seems to suggest in the manual you press the keyfob button once (don't hold) and the alarm light changes to constant instead of flashing. But for the life of me I can't get that to happen....
