Ok, lovely day for a cruise in Brighton. You'd think....
A while back my fan belt went and I replaced it by measuring the length and going to Halfords. It's been fine, until today.
Coming out of the marina (which is awesome by the way 2 tunnels and walls on either side so the noise echoes back through the marina and all along the cliffs mmmmmmmm
) and the battery light comes on, so pulled out of sight and got me trusty alan key out fortunately the fan belt was still in the engine bay. Tightened it right up and off I went again. Lots of posing and waves to other Tiv owners. then coming off the lights right in the centre of town the belt goes again, this time there is no where close to hide and repair it. so I try to drive on a bit only for the temp to race up into the red naahhh, come on baby just round the corner. I made it out of sight but the belt had gone this time. Pat on the back for me for putting a spare in the boot which was just a bit too small but did the job.
I went to the local motor factor and , after listening to his new crappy jokes found that he didn't have the part however he did point out that the pulley on the alternator is a small width whilst the others are wide, thanks previous owner.
So the point of this post: where can I get a pulley and the correct fitting belt? what information do I need to have to hand when asking?
Still love my car though it wouldn't be the same without the stress!!!!
PS I wonder if anyone will read this with out a title, silly boy!!!
That is so clever little fairies have come and given me a title, but still let everyone know that I forgot it..
