Ive got a 98 4.0 chimp and the clutch has died. I am going to have a go myself and would be grateful of any advice. Does the engine have to come out or can it be done insitu?
Also what time scale do you think and where is the best place for a clutch?
Any information please chaps .

Search this or the Griff forum and you will find some pointers. Drop the gearbox and see which clutch they have used before getting the replacment. Replace the release bearing and possibly the arm.

To drop the gearbox, remove the exhaust, disconnect reverse switch, speedo connections, clutch cylinders etc etc gear lever and it is generally an unpleasent job but not difficult because of the large amount of heavy metal to move and access is not very good. Some advice splitting box from bell housing in situ. It all depends... Definitely a job where extra hands are useful/essential.

Probably take a day to remove it and a day to put back. This assuming you don't have access to a full workshop with all the go faster tools and rmaps and so on. The pros are quicker.

There is a pretty full descrption in't Bible 2.

A good tip is to take some photos of the engine in situ, it makes it a lot easier getting all the auxillaries fitted back in the right position.

But the engine stays in place so there is no need to touch all the complicated stuff at the front of the car.
