It never ceases to amaze me. hear i am the cash ready, and in need of buying another TVR. so whats the first thing you do. you look at the SPRINT for a company who are offering TVR,s for sale. you find the car you want, then phone them, no reply, so you leave a message for them to return your call. you then try a 2nd and 3rd time, still no reply. when you are looking at spending in excess of £20k or more, they still cant be bothered to call you and acknwoledge your enquiry.
If they are in the business of selling cars, can you imagine what it would be like if you had a problem, and wanted to get repairs done, it makes you wonder. with all the so called spill they write about themselves on how good they are, and how many years of expertise they have with TVR,s it is not worth the space its printed on.
I still have my money, i suspect someone out there would want to sell me a car, but be careful.i wonder if anyone has had the same problem, let us know.

It's not just TVR dealers. When I was looking round three years ago, a search which lead me to the TVR Centre in Barnet and the Chim 450 I still have, lots of dealers of all kinds completely failed to either return my calls, or when we turned up to look at cars or have (pre-booked) test drives, were completely apathetic. That's why we didn't buy a Lotus Elise or a VX220. OTOH, the TVR Centre couldn't have been nicer.
Its not only the unanswered phone calls! When we were looking for a Chim 450, we went to a TVR place in Worcestershire, We spotted one we liked and within our price range (£20K) and asked for a test drive, only to be given a smirk by one of the guys , followed by a 'well, I'll need to see the colour of your money before letting you get in the car'!!
Needless to say, the following week, we took a 70 mile trip to Kings TVR in Warckshire, I had my test drive, salesman couldn't have been more helpful, and we bought the Chim!
It was the same looking for a Tam, some dealers seemed to simply not want my money, very odd way to behave!

I found Drew at Ferhursts most helpful before, during and after my purchase. www.fernhurst-tvr.co.uk/
I turned up with no appointment and no prior TVR experience. We chatted through what i wanted and had a look at a lot of cars. He didn't have the spec that i wanted at the time, but he still suggested that i took a test drive anyway. After that i was sold!
It was only a few days before he found what i wanted. He got a sale, i got fantastic sevice and my beautiful Peacock Blue Chim 450.

Remind's me of my mate that was looking for a Renault Spyder.
Went into a well know Renault dealer in Wimbledon whilst still in working cloth's (BT Engineer)only to be told by the salesman to go away.
He then went straight to the manager's office (Knowing where it's was from installing new lines the week before)and ordered a New Spyder.
Then told the 1st saleman what he just done.
Adrian Blythe is well respected on these forums another mate just brought a Elise from him.

I had a great experience when buying my Griff 3 years ago from Mole Valley. I booked the test drive and turned up with my mate (who had a very bad hangover). I wasn't looking my best, must have forgot how to dress that day.
The salesman definitely thought I just wanted a go in a TVR, but was very polite and accommodating. I went for the test drive, and when we returned he took my mate out for a drive in it as well. My mate couldn't drive himself as he was on a ban.
The salesman then asked "what did you think of it"? and to his surprise (I think) I said "Yeah, I'll have it"
I'm sure the salesman thought I wasn't going to buy it, but still was well mannered and polite. Maybe if I was treated like some of you were, I may not of bought it.

Agree about comments re Fernhursts. Looked at a Griff there today, made to feel very welcome, made me coffee, they suggested I should test drive before I had asked, and put it up on ramps for me.
Took as long as I wanted. They couldn't have been more helpful.
Were the same when I was looking there last year.

It must be individuals - when I went to Kings, the first thing they asked me was if I thought I could reverse it
I'd been a TVR owner for about 5 years at that stage... oh how we laughed... I must have walked out of at least 4 or 5 places with my £25k cash intact. Perhaps car salesmen are paid per patronising comment nowadays, rather than commission on sales?
BTW, I bought the Griff in my profile from James Agger. No messing, no willy-waving, and found me the car I specified. I'd use him again.

I think you're right! It's odd how some people would swear by a dealer, singing its praises, whilst others have had the complete opposite experience, and wouldn't now go near or touch with the proverial barge pole. The guys that almost put me off TVR ownership in the first instance is a classic example, I've seen positive posts about them, but I would never give them a penny of my money..
