This is really starting to pee me off.
I had a real fight last time I took this damned thing off and I'm having the same fight again now
I've tried 'coaxing' the boss off with a 2 and 3 legged puller but it wont budge and I'm twisting the boss out of shape now, and I've done like it says in the bible and pulled and jiggled on it all day (anyone walking past my garage would have thought there was an orgy going on in there today)

Has anyone got any suggestions how to get the stupid thing off so I can realign my steering wheel?

Thanks chaps.

I take it you've undone the nut only joking

What it needs a sharp tap at the same time as a tug, usually. That or just drive around with the bolt slightly loose for the next six months.

I've used a three legged puller on mine - sorry it hasn't worked for you. But you shouldn't align the steering wheel on the boss, it should be done at the track rod ends, otherwise you end up with different lock left and right.

Thanks Grifter.
I'll have to come clean now but I'm not trying to line up the steering, more like trying to re-line up the steering wheel with the wheels after changing the UJ's and getting the top one what is probably one spline out of alignment
As a last resort I will redo it at the UJ but it was such a pig to get together I thought I'd do it the 'easy' way.

Did the same thing a few weeks ago Barretti...
When i took my wheel off, i sat the car and used my knees on the bottom of the wheel to pull back, and one hand on the top of the wheel with equal pulling force, and at the same time tapped the threaded column shaft with a hammer. two taps and the wheel popped off.
