i noticed this small filter which was almost falling down ...when i touched it i saw that it was holding on there by luck ... then i opened the plastic cover and saw that the sponge inside was covered with grease and almost not functioning ...i replaced it with another piece of a sponge !!(i know its stupid to do it) and inserted it inside back to its place ?!!
can you tell me what is this and how should it be replaced and attached back??????!!!! (kind of glue ? filter???)
thanks

I think it's actually an air inlet rather than a breather. A breather would normally have an oil separator, which would be quite bulky. Most engines nowadays have a breather vented to the inlet manifold rather than fresh air, this is how TVR do it too. So most of the time, the rocker covers are under a slight vacuum. The air vent is optional but lets air in to the rocker covers - the filter would be to keep crud out of the engine.
