me and the boxster 's'
Discussion
i really had fun in the griff today, this clear cool weather is just made for TVR's (pity up here we have too little of it)
anyway, i was driving around the salford quays areas like you do and then suddenly the chance to pull alongside a boxster appeared out of nowhere, and the lights were on red as if waiting until i made it to the line.
didnt make any eye contact with the porker driver, they aren't usually much to look at anyway. had that sense that everything, not just everyone was looking at us. the headlights of cars became eyes and all other cars sat at the lights felt like they were ready for a fight like a crowd waits for joe louis to hammer the first blows into the opponent. i suppose i felt like joe louis, i assumed the Griff was quicker.
the green light lit up and like two fighter planes we flicked our appropriate switches and flew off with bonnets strutting. the noise was incredible. i had only had onw window open but the two contrasting noises were audible. the feminine metallic shreak of the boxster and the mature cocophonous growl of my griff. no question, which the crowd would take home as a memory.
as some of you may have already read, i went a bit sideways when flooring it the other day for no real apparant reason. so i cautiosuly used the 'egg under the throttle' advice and held off a little, perhaps too much. our noses were equal until the boxster emerged and shreaked away probably making it to 70mph in a 40 limt. the cautious approach coupled with a desire not to get arrested in my first year of driving meant the boxster was away. in any case, if i dont drive the TVR again i will never forget the experiece. i dont wish i had been in the boxster with all its mechanical electornical gimmikry enabling the rear wheels to be tamed and that shabby, cheap interior. anyway, the adrenalin was pumping so much just by virtue of the fact that any more throttle and any less concentration and i probably would have spun all over the shop making an arse of myself and a mess of my trousers.
it is by far the best fun i've ever had in a car, and the meaning of owning and loving a TVR has become a lot clearer today

you'll get us a bad name
Or as the Ratboy says have considered a Chimp
Not that i would condone this sort of behaviour on a public highway

Discretion is the better part of valour g-boy. Keep that wise head on your shoulders and enjoy many more outings.
It's so much fun taunting them into speeding off down the road anyway.
