The Porsche warranty

I have an extended warranty on my Mk1 GT3 (car has 11k miles).

Its got a knackered diff. (came up as a service point when the car was serviced by JZM) The diff is listed as covered in the warranty booklet.

West London OPC want to relieve me of £1200 to investigate how it has arisen - ie wear and tear or defect. Interestingly, the warranty booklet makes a point of saying wear on the clutch is not covered but makes no such comment on the diff.

I know that some GT3 owners have had diffs rebuilt/replaced under warranty - i'd be really grateful for specific examples, dates, dealers etc so i can cite these at the opc.

I'll be damned if i'm spending that with the opc when JZM can fix it for less but it winds me up that some people have had this done and they're resisting on mine. I raised this a while ago, opc won't back down without specific examples of people having had work done under warranty.

Surely they are saying that they will investigate, and if the diff is covered then you won't pay the investigation time?

yes thats right. But for their investigation cost, i can get it repaired in total.

i'm fairly sure its going to be some form of wear and tear, the molybednum is known to wear on some mk1s. i could spend the £1200, find its wear, and then pay them to fix it at their labour rates.

I'm after experience of OPCs accepting that its covered under warranty fullstop which JZM and others have told me has been the case.

TBH I reckon that it should be covered - you have the OPC warranty and my experiece is that they don't argue - although clearly you need to make your own risk assessment.
