HelpPlease - Do these tyres need replacing ?

Hi everyone, could you cast your eyes over these pictures and let me know whether you
think they need replacing, they are front left and front right taken today;

[/pic] It seems as though it is the inside edge which has worn away all of the tread as far as I can see, does this mean the tyre is illegal (it looks like to me) and why would it wear on the inside edge quite so badly ?
I am having a crap day,
1) I catch the side of the garage frame (again) whilst backing out and scrape the rear right wing.
2) I then catch the rear (right) tyre on the metal garage door stop which rips a huge tear in the rear wheel - cue now need a new rear tyre ! This has now been removed and lashed down the street.
3) Whilst manouevering to get out the way of a van parked partly across my drive, I catch the front splitter (air dam thingy) on the pavement and you've guessed it rip it partly off and attempt to bend it double.
Wahey how to damage your cerb in the space of thirty seconds, whilst jacking the car up so I can remove offending splitter is when I notice the state of the front tyres (
) - I was thinking of getting rid of the hated Bridgestones S-03's but not like this ! Sympathy needed please
Border line on legality. You need to have tread over the full width but it would be a mean copper to book you. Is that just power steering or does the tracking need checking?
I guess that you won't have too many days like this one. It's all superficial and easy, if painful, to fix. At least you've still got a Cerb.

they are looking very worn on the inside mate, and the top one looks like it may be on the verge of geting to the wires! Id replace them and have your tracking/alignment checked too, or it will do the same to your new tyres quickly. They will wear on the inside more anyway due to the negative camber.

Because they have worn the same amount as mine did before I had the rack rebuilt!

Then I suspect you have wear in one, or both of your track rods. The best thing you could do is get the rack overhauled at Power Steering Services in Greenwich for £150.
If you want to take the cheap route then just fit new track rods, can be done on the car but will need a geo check after.

for Toyo T1-S £320 from ebay - wahoo. Set of 18" wheel (spiders) from Torque RVT - Ian at Middlewich MOT (cheers Ian) so should be sporting new rubber very soon, Ian will aslo check alaignment, track rod ends and play in steering rack if needed, so all's well that ends well I suppose.
I've got a set of SO3 fronts (16" that came off mine with about 4000 miles on them. They are uniform across the width of the tyre.
To answer one of the original questions, 75% of the tyres tread must be above 1.6mm. I'd say you would be pushing to argue that they were legal considering the amount of wear on the inside. You are abviously aware of the 'wear indicators' on the tyre? They are the slightly raised bits of rubber between the tread. Once you are down to the indicators they need changing.
