Normally £79.99 (Halfords etc) these are on "special" from Woolies via the web:

www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/index.jhtml?pid=50432996

£39.99! Excellent value if you just want basic GPS camera warnings...

Anyone know if these are any good ? Seems a fantastic price, but the link says fixed camera sites and doesn't mention mobile sites. I know it's not a detector but I'm referring to the agreed mopbile camera sites as listed on the SCP websites. Anyone know if this device covers them too ?

I've always found with these type of gadjets - you get what you pay for.

Yep, in part I agree with Mr Gixer - although for £40 I think I may invest! Looking at some of the reviews of this they do say it is basic, and yes it only covers fixed sites, but at the price it looks very good value.

I particularly like the look of the 'temporary speed limit' feature, apparantly do the temporary limit speed, press the two buttons on top and it'll beep if you go over it. Simple but very useful for those M11 roadworks moments...

Plus it works as a GPS reciever - handy if you've got mapping software on your laptop...

Anyone got one yet?

Would you be able to give an update when you get yours. There was a thread about these the other day and the opinion was that they were pretty good for the money. Would be interested to get another point of view though.

I got a Talex at the NEC last year. I think they are about £90 now. Locates all fixed cameras and many mobile sites (certainly all the ones I know about locally). Will tell you if you are speeding in a danger zone - actually it drives you so mad that you either end up disconnecting it or reducing your speed which is a good feature, I guess. You can program in your own camera sites at the push of a button. It also gives you your Sat Nav speed which is quite a bit slower than the speedo. Can't remeber what the update fee structure is.

Drawbacks are that its warnings could be louder and sometimes it is hard to see in direct sunlight. In fact if it's sunny, top off and tramping on, it is not a lot of use!!!

I have thought about the Woolies one as well but I'm in danger of having some many gadgets stuck to the windscreen and the dash that whilst I may never get done for speeding (touch wood), I run the risk of being done for Driving With Undue Care from crashing due to not being able to see out.

Of course the other thing is that these gizmos work for France too, so the LM trip this year will benefit, and at £40 you can even risk the gendarmes confiscating it... Not that I will, probably. Hmm. None the less, a different proposition than losing a couple of hundred quid Snooper

If any of you guys have got TomTom Sav Nav's a simple relatively inexpensive upgrade on-line gives you audible and visual indication of all fixed camera sites (not mobile ones though)

Yeah I have and I tried it out whist driving around everyday for work. Misses loads and loads and loads of cameras (some of which are the 'original cams put up years ago) so I wouldn't count on it too much. Also drives you nuts in London as it reports red light cams as well which are everywhere up there. Oh yeah, it also warns when the cameras are for traffic going the other way. Can't beat a road angel and Bell 550i working together

Tom Tom does give mobile camera van locations which I've found very handy in unknown areas

Though as Gixer said some of the other camera locations are well out of date
