Can you guys tell me what mod's a Lightweight has? Other than the lightened pannels.
I would need to add 5-7k to my bugget, and ok the car is a year or 2 younger. That in it self warrants most of the increase. So if it has some good upgraids, improvements, it may be time to rethink?

the lightweight has a much lighter bonnet and some other improvements over a standard Cerb (lighter engine components, less sound deadening etc.)
however, believe it or not a lightweight 4.5 is actually heavier than an early 4.2 Cerb.

Hadn't heard the lighter engine components or sound deadening bit before! Only the bonnet, and the different style front lights. Otherwise it's the same. (I had one of the first, so poked around a bit).

LW pack i believed included:

18's
Revised Pod lights
Lighented bonnet
Lightened boot
New revised higher engine tray (covering washer bottle).
Rear light cluster revised - loosing the fiesta lights - this was then carried into the main production line.
Some later LW models had the 'Sloping' Number plate at the rear.

Interior
Rear seat headrests - were removed
Tuscan style seats up front.
Front inside rollbar is thinner - and revised sun-visors - its amazing the difference this makes.

i did here something about the doors. but there's not much in them anyways. so i think that's crap

If the lightweight comes with factry fitted 18s, what tyers do they use? I herd that if you go from 17 to 18 you cant get the right tyer! Have tvr upgraided the arches for another j size? etc etc???

as you move from 17" to 18" you get a lower profile, therefore the rolling radius stays the same. No need for body mods.

I was told the whole body was made using a honeycomb fibreglass matting in between the normal matting and that the car was 80kgs lighter, than the older 4.5. I understand in reality that the body was nearer 40 kgs lighter. The Tuscan and newer cars are made this way. At last year's TVRCC Track Day at Oulton Park I put my Cerbera 4.5LW on the weighing machine and it was circa 1400kgs (TVR claim 1100kgs). Maybe I weighed it wrong?

The LW was launched at the Nov 99 London Motorshow and to start with it came with 17" alloys as standard. Later cars had the 18" as standard and also the pods were blended into the wing.

If you're going to put 18" spider alloys onto a Cerbera, you should fit four front Tuscan alloys; with 225/35/18 fronts (Toyo T1R £113.10 plus VAT) and 255/35/18 rears (Toyo T1R £135.40 plus VAT) which are readily available; and the TVR steering lock kit.

Morning james...

To be honest i think lightweight means not a single jot. Big engine small car equals warp factor.

I from chatting to the chapos at the factory, I belive they use Coremat in the construction.

www.lantor.nl/composites/fr_comp/frame_comp.html

I know they use it for the Tuscan so I asume it was a range wide change.

No sunvisors on mine either!

Certainly the initial 4.5LW's didn't come with 18" wheels. 17 was standard, as per the pre LW 45, in the old RL7 style. I complained to good old Ben about how much they charged for the 17 to 18 upgrade (2k I seem to remember) about how ridiculously overpriced it was given the actual cost difference for rims and tyres and his response was "well, Porsche charge 5k, so it's a bargain". Err, thanks. Anyway, at least I got the spider rims free on a recall. I miss my old Cerbie...
