Just an idle + hypothetical question. I awoke yesterday to 5-6 inches of snow...

If I were to throw a snowball at a GATSO, not damaging it, but obscuring the lens. Would that constitute an offence? Would I be dragged away under the prevention of terrorism act?

Good idea, but it'd soon melt off.

Better to get a tin can on a string and waste all the film (or so I hear)... until they ban swinging metal objects around quickly on string then get on with it

Trouble is with paintguns, the paint is water-based to wash out easily.

You want something that fires blobs of POR15

go to a music shop and buy a tuning fork.

that's what they test gatso's with.

Not sure which note gives you which speed reading, but presumably the higher the frequency the better. Give it a tap and put it infront of the radar.

Really? If so, I'll need one for my weekly jog past the GATSO! So far, I've satisfied myself with a particularly large 'grolly' aimed at the opening mechanism.

'grolly' - had to look that one up ! - for those as unaware as me -

a wad of mucus from the nose

"I sneezed out a green grolly with hairs in."

Dang, I didn't know that. (I've never been paintballing, and probably never will.) Presumably the ones sold for agricultural use (marking sheep) aren't, though? Otherwise what would be the point?

for some reason, the idea of running around a field, shooting sheep with a paintball gun fills me with mirth! Imagine the bleeting little fellas, running in all directions, not knowing why their rumps suddenly stung and their fur was purple

A lot of the sheep markings are from a raddle (thing you tie to a Ram) so that farmer Giles knows when his ewes have been covered.

Now there's a thought, get a randy Ram (vicious sods) to have a go at a Gatso covered in a ewe's fleece......

Well just in case the snowball doesn't melt, I'll be happy to come and help you get it off with my new snowball removal device:

Can anyone elaborate on this, purely for the sake of discussion you understand.

There is plenty of case law to the effect, that if you recklessly or deliberately prevent something from performing its intended function (even without damaging it or permanently diabling it), you may be guilty of causing criminal damage.

So, if I'm aiming at my buddies head and hit the GATSO accidentally, I'm o.k?

That tyre and petrol thing, they did that to a Camera at a very bad junction (Yeah, a place that actually needed one!) round here, there must have been at least one crash a month there before the camera went up, the camera went up and there was not a crash there since, then some idiot decided to tourch it, lo and behold 2 weeks later there was a very bad crash there, Is they want to tourch it at least do it to a camera that is totally pointless

Note the 'recklessly' qualification. Recklessly means amongst other things 'indifferent to the likely consequences'. So if you ignore the consequences of missing your friend or him ducking out of the way, then it is construed as deliberate.
