Stuck SIM card tray in PCM 2 - Help needed!!

Hi all,
Just got back into Porka ownership with a 996 cab (03 model, bose, PCM2, midnight blue) - much better than the previous 993 cab.
However - I've had the car for two weeks and the sim card tray won't come out anymore. Its not covered by warranty and it was a private sale, so not much chance of getting it fixed by Porsche...
They tell me the only option is a new PCM unit at over 2k - has anyone else had this and can it be fixed by taking the unit apart? I suspect its something simple like a spring as become dislodged..
