Doesn't look as good as the E46 though! In fact, am I the only person that thinks the new 3-series looks a BIT LIKE a *shock* Mitsubuishi Charisma from the back!?

4 door version looks nice to me. Coupe doesn't have "right" proportions. Rear overhang seems excessive........

Doesn't look so great , but I am sure it will be sublime to drive. V8 engine shows they are following Mercs lead with the C55, which is an awesome car and very underrated IMHO!

Ditto, the E46 was/is a very nice car. Certainly my favorite 3 series. I don't really dig the new one. As for the new M3 with the 400bhp power; Anyone else find the 0-62mph time a bit disappointing? It would have expected at least something in the 4.6 range...

Compared to the E30 and the late E36 this looks just like any other car, the Lexus looks better and I think new Beemers have lost the edge. The old E34 M5, old 7 series and just about any old BMW had the look other manufacturers wanted, not these days though, but as northo says it'll be a great drive

From front/front 3/4 view, it looks very similar to the M6. At least the M5's distinctive...

Not impressed. Could look good in cab form though.

Where did you get a 0-60 time? No-one apart from BMW has tested it and BMW has released no figures.

edit: saw "just over five seconds" in the article. That will be utter bollox. I'd expect 4.6.

I loved the style of the last 3-series. This one is ugly in any derivative.

The E30 is the best looking 3-Series, followed by E46. The E46 M3 looked like a beast.

Not all BMW's have lost their edge! I like the 5-series. The profile is very sharp and clean cut.

But, best looking BMW ever still has to be the original 635 CSi!

A few months ago I made this impression of the new M3 with a shootingbreak rear end:
