whats with all the glue

Hi guys,

Just wondered if anyone has ever complained to TVR with regard the obvious over enthusiastic use of spray glue on the inetrior trim.
We have detailed many TVR's now and have found the Tuscan to have a major problem with thin orange/brown threads all over the interior trim. We get it all off but you would think it isnt rocket science to go around the vehicle and remove any excess that has got on the leather etc.
I guess the QC problems are the cause but has the new managment sorted this out with the Sagaris and new Tuscans etc. Guess it will reduce our work load but the end of the day the client will be happier.

Never complained, but I have similar frustrations and have actually been told by a professional detailer who worked on my car that elements of the excess glue cannot be removed period. This is particularly the case on carpet as I have one or two small areas where glue clearly fell onto it during manufacture and now would necessitate removing the whole carpet if it cannot be cleaned (fibres now too damaged?).

I had a very good look around a new Tuscan convertible & along with a much improved fit & finish there was no sign of excess glue anywhere, although I suppose any could have been removed by the dealer. My previous 2000 Tuscan did have a bit of excess glue around particularly on the rear rollover hoop joints, although just cleaned this off myself. Not having enough glue on the window screen surround was far worse though as the window screen had to be removed to allow re-trimming to be carried out.

funny old thing but I was thinking about this at the weekend on my 03' Tusc. The glue has marked the cream leather on the pillars, but even worse some of the leather has come apart already where the glue has failed! Outrageous in a car a little over 2 years old however attention to detail has never been one of TVRs strong points!!

Does anyone know which glue should be used to rectify this? can you pick it up at somewhere like Halfrauds?

It's dangerous to remove the excess glue. It is the excess glue and silicon that hold the car together. It's even found inside the sump of the engines.

I've got a Tuscan 2 and there is not a smidge of excess glue anywhere I can see.

Word of warning regarding spray glue, I tried to glue the rear carpeting back in after fitting speakers and in the confines of the car it blew back and went all over the bloody place. Spent the next hour cleaning it off. Good old fashioned pot and brush did the job a treat.
Thought the reason that the glue shows is because of the trim shrinking and it gradually leaves a line of glue along the joints. Pretty crap but hey! thats tvr for you cant live with em, cant live without em

Yep. A bloke on a bike pulled up by my window at the lights the other day and asked how the Tuscan was running.
No problems yet I said, and then I kicked myself for saying it.
Two days later my radiator blew.
No more Tuscan for a couple of weeks.

The first rule of owning a Tuscan is.... don't tempt fate.
The second rule of owning a Tuscan is........ don't tempt fate.
