I want to buy one of the above in 1 Terabyte form (4X250GB) and have it Raid 5 form so total storage = 750GB.

The only main differences I can see are:
100 UKP
ATA 133 (Home) VS SATA 150 (Pro)
easier access to drives on the Pro

The home one mentions something about DLNA server for feeding data to media centres etc. Is this worth while - or just a gimic?

coments please

I'm supposed to be having a home one delivered today. For my purposes, the drives are quick enough. I was sold on it by the GBit networking, because my home network (excluding hte wireless part) is GBit and transfers are very quick.

I'll be interested to hear how noisy or quiet it is in real life? I need to upgrade a linkstation and it is like a jet fighter when the drive spins up!

quite a few of us are looking at the Terastions. Would love to hear your thoughts once it's up and running.

We've got a few "snap servers" up and running. Basically a drive caddy with a Linux load and a network port... seems pretty good - worth a look if you don't need as much storage.

I'd be amazed if I can hear the Terastation over three PCs and a server.

How about this - although more expensive it does look mighty impresive.

We've got a 1GB terastation PRO configured for RAID 5 which was purchased for storage space/price not for speed.

It's not the fastest thing in the world but it's cheap, it's quiet, and it just sits there and works.

Got it yesterday, set it up in RAID 5 over GB internet. I'll report back over the weeked. It's not unduly noisy and I don'f need massive speed, as it's for storage. For video-editing purposes, I have a pair of 10k rpm Raptors in RAID 0.
