CD ROM Drives Gone!!
Discussion
After performing a full format and reinstall of windows I went to put Nero back on my parent's computer this moring. It all seemed to go fine, but when I restarted Nero wasn't there. To add to that both the CD ROM and DVD-RW are no longer working. The Device manager says that the CD ROM entry in the registry is broken or corrupt and the DVD RW says that it is working fine but the device is missing. They both show up in the BIOS. I have tried uninstalling them and reinstalling them but the same thing happens. They are detected but don't work. Now the problem is I am moving out as of tomorrow and won't have too much time to fix things. Anybody got aby quick fixes or ideas?
Cheers

Have a look in the registry for :
Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass
Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters. Just the value not the key.
Their may also be other 'CurrentControlSets' ie 1.2.3 etc. Make sure you do the above on then all before a reboot.
