Hi,
Just wondered if anybody with a pre 98 chim has converted their rear lights to the post 98 style. If so is it a diy job or specialist , what sort of price and where can you get them.
Thanks Sibo

Sibo - If you find out can you let me know as I want to do this as well. I can find 3rd party rear clusters which will fit but not TVR ones.

www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk or www.horizonmotorsport.co.uk - they'll both do it, or you can go to Halfrauds and buy any Max Power light upgrade for a mkII Fiesta and slap that in.

Mines a 97 P and has been done (by prev owner), I believe its a specialist job as the inside of the cluster is colour coded and they all need a bit of fettling to fit properly.

It is specialist - Central TVR will do the whole job or sell you the fibreglass inserts...

I am in the midst of making my own, can show the results and let you know how much it costs if they look any good...

Hi,
thanks for the links, apart from the max power stuff .
Was hoping to order the parts and get someone local to do the work for me as i'm in the northeast, and it's a bit far to drop the chim off then get a bus home.

If you can buy the moulds then the assembly is easy. All the lenses are from stock MOD parts, you can normally pck these up for between £5-10 a lense depending on condition from one of the big ex military dealers.

Sorry Bluethunder, think you got the wrong end of the car!!!!!!

Don't think a chieftan tank has a reversing and hazard warning light, that would sort of defeat the whole object of it's existence.

The tutti fruity rear lenses are the same as MOD Landrover fitment.

Not sure if you have tried Quad Conversions for the rear light upgrade. The afterburner rear lights are purpose made and are a direct replacment for the standard bits. Easy to fit took me an hour to do them both. All done from inside no need to touch outer lenses just remove existing lamp units and wire in the new ones.

Let me know if you want a picture of the car and I will e-mail to you, By the way Quard Conversions are based in Leeds

No trust me i know what im talking about. If you look at your existing lights you will see a number on the front of the lense. It will normally start with the letters FV and then the mod part number. The FV stands for (Fighting Vechile)And im sorry but Challenger 2,s and all military vechiles for that matter are fitted with hazards and reverse lights. They have a simple 6 way switch fitted in the instrument binacle which turns on and off any lights you want on the vechile

Now you really have me confused and concerned.
The confusion is that I know the front sidelights come off a military vehicle, but I was sure that the rear lights (which is what this post is about) were standard early Fiesta with a smoked cover?
The concern is visualising all of our tanks going into battle with their hazard warning lights on!!!!!

Nice though they are, £349 does seem a lot of money for what are effectively some LEDs in a plastic moulding.

The rear lights Bluethunder is on about are the later style clusters, which have the military lenses attached. The Fiesta ones are the earlier style on the first Chims, but you can fit the later style to the earlier cars aswell as Zertec ones, Quad conversions, etc.
