OK got the mirrpr housing off to repair the frame two problems.

1. The tripod is stuck in with some randon filler looks like P38? Do i get to nibble this away to get at the screw that attaches the frame to the tripod?

2. The little metal washers that hold the back onto the frame, any tips on how to get them off witoout knackering the plastic posts?

Why is a car built with such low quality parts so difficult to swap parts out!!

Those 'cheap' parts were deemed good enough for the Aston Martin Virage, Lotus Esprit, and a certain very expensive Jaguar XK220.....

Sounds like yours has had a previous 'bodge'.. It's a standard Citron part, so spares shouldn't be too difficult to find

I had the same problem with those little washers - I just gently levered them round with a flat head screwdriver and didn't manage to snap any of the posts, but they were scored. I didn't actually re-use this as, luckily, I had been given a 'manual' mirror when I bought my car and used the frame and ribbed surround (intact) from that.

According to the boys at Webbs those 'classy' mirrors snap off with frightening regularity, and yes it is a bodge, just need about six hours to find out how much of a badge.
