Please check out this link to the BBC news website.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2645483.stm

I apologise if this link has already been started elsewhere.
The story is regarding a 27 year old guy who has admitting death by dangerous driving for killing a 6 year old girl in a collision whilst driving a stolen car.
The infuriating thing is this guy had already served a years sentance for exactly the same crime 11 years previously.
Why in the hell was this guy given a licence again?
Why wasn't he locked away for longer?
What happened to the prison service rehabiliting offenders!!
It just proves that prison sentances offer virtually no detterant to scum like this!! I offer my condolences to the family involved and I hope for their sake and for the safety of everybody in ashington ,that this guy is locked away for a very long time and is never allowed to drive again.

The guy is obviously total scum, and should of gotten a bigger sentence.

One question (and don't bite my head off), but was the child who died wearing a seat belt? Was that why she died, or was the impact that bad?

Anyone any more info?

He didn't have a licence. He was driving whilst disqualified, without insurance, and had stolen the car. Nobody allowed him to do it.

Another prime example of the best of British! One of the countries most worthy sons. Contribute nothing, Take everything (including life X2). He probably has added to his own gene pool too at everyone elses expense.

Every day there are more and more of these spawn of the devil created and infesting the UK. Eventually they will take over, there will be no one decent left to rob and abuse so they will all just disappear into the cesspit of their own making.

I would not let on what I would have instore for scum like this but it would not be death because that is too easy. Something that would keep them in purgatory for the rest of their sorry useless lives which created a benefit for the rest of what is left of decent society!

Must confess to finding most of the info you provide informative and helpful, but how do you stop yourself from these types of scumbags?? It must be very demoralising to find these people back on the street commiting the same crime again and again without a thought for the life of anyone around them. Sometimes it must be said, much respect to the police in having to deal with these types of situations and people.
As the advert says I don't think I could cope with that!

I don't think the issue of a license or lack of one would matter to this piece of

What can be done with these people?

Fines are useless as they usually would only have to nick the money to pay them. Driving ban useless as they obviously couldn't give a toss about the law or anything else for that matter.

Only locking away for a long long long time or taking a to them would seem to be a viable way of protecting people from them.

Doesnt help when we have 'judges' saying that the community don't want first offenders being locked up.In their oldy woldy dresses and curly Leo Sayer hair do's.We need to kick out the old and get in new tougher judges.I'm sure that most people would give a pound a month towards a more judicial system with more cells. At the moment, crime does pay.

Food for thought (and BTW the way I am in no way excusing or defending this scum)- Britain has the largest prison population in Europe (except maybe for Turkey), we incarcerate more offenders (first time or otherwise) than any country in the world. So the solution is to lock more up for longer

Methinks the system ain't working.

However having said all that, this scum had 89 previous. I don't believe that this murderer is/was capable of rehabilitation but that's not always the case. I believe there are now lifelong supervision orders available to the courts and if the guy was even suspected of farting in an inappropriate manner he would be sent back to jail.

Because Politicians who so proudly copied 'Slick Willies' idea from the states where they do enforce this procedure, just used it as a sound bite to get votes prior to the last election. They never had any intention of going along with it. You only have to listen to the people at the top of the Govt law and order strategy (Woolf & Irvine) to realise that.
