Caveman versus Cayman
Discussion
I would have a cayman S over a carrera S....posted recent driving impressions after an extended second run out in one.... One feels more like a sportscar, the other is definitely a GT, as good as the Cayman is ...it is not quite there yet and no reason to trouble the ING account.

Having briefly driven a cayman on the equivalent of a test drive run, I was able to spend more time on saturday driving it on decent B roads. As much as I prefer the size of the car over the 997...I was left just a little disapointed.
The car is on standard suspension with 18" wheels psm...but no pasm........the low speed ride was far too choppy...it was better as you increased speed...the steering was fantastic with little hand movement needed to steer over the bumpy terrain.
What I didn't much like was the odd feeling of the car losing a little traction over bumps and when braking hard before it gains composure, a sort of hesitancy where the excellent communication is momentarily interrupted.
Powerwise it was adequate I guess, more ooomph than 968CS.....but the way the power is delivered 300bhp feels more in a 964 or 993.
I was intrigued to try the Cayman S having read the Autocar B road group test where it was overall victor.....personally I would have gone for the Exige S as I think the fun factor just pips it. (drove both in the space of 24 hours) Quite a good car overall 7.5/10
LA, curiously I mentioned my cayman thoughts ref the lsd....the Lotus guys were not keen on an Lsd being fitted to a mid engined car as it can cause more handling problems..

Some of the citicisms of the Cayman are valid enough, but people seem to be forgetting that against a 997, you can have the Cayman and £20K in the bank!
Overall, I'm delighted with mine. Having come from an Elise (or 3!) it almost feels too capable and unfussed. I gave it some oomph on a local dual carriageway last Sunday morning. All terribly calm and serene as I nudged 130mph!
