Sony hanycam mic wanted

I know this might be the wrong place to ask, but here goes.
I have just bought a new sony handycam minidvd camera, i'm after an extention mic so that i can record the sounds of the exhaust popping etc,so it needs to be at least 2m long. I don't care if you think thats sad, but if anyone know where i can get one can you let me know,

From the top of my head, you need any microphone with 'plug in power'.

If its specifically for recording exhaust audio, I'd recommend a good quality omnidirectional microphone with a windshield.
