Not sure I have done the right thing.
A friend of mine phoned today his wifes (who is a hairdresser) Boxter S has just been stolen. He was after advice of what TVR to buy his wife. She does a 3 mile through town trip to work and back 5 days a week and thats it.

I said a TVR is not for her as the thing will never get upto temp or get to stretch its legs and therfore will probarley self destruct.

Have I done the right thing?

Do you guys really think a TIV is the right choice for this route? Thought this type of use would kill a speed six engine.

Such a short daily drive with no other use is certainly not good for any car, let alone a TVR. But a mass produced car will probably take it better. Preferably a petrol rather than a diesel, and having as short an exhaust system as possible will help it warm through better - a Boxster would seem a reasonable enough choice, I guess, if you mustn't have something better suited like a Fiat 500 or a Smart somethingorother.

Why not tell your friend to get her a TVR but then he needs to take it for a good thrash every weekend to charge the battery up and warm it through properly?

Yes - I agree this would not be great for a Sp6 car, and I am sure the wife would prefer the easier ride of the Porsche, and all the niceties such as traction control, electric roof (if she ever puts this down and risks messing her hairdo!) etc

You buy a TVR with your heart not your head, if the lady in question really wants a TVR, then she'll have one. If she just wants a nice car to replace the Porsche then perhaps a tiv is not the best choice.

Boxter's are lurvly cars to drive, but nothing is as raw as tivs out there tbh.

Personally, I'd want my missis to make it home on time and not in some muscle-bound brad-pitt type geezer's low-loader cabin.... shit happens, and tivs make all dreams come true, including hers NOT

I'm sure I read a thread you started a couple of weeks back saying TVR's were now reliable "FACT" and we should all stop knocking them and support the marque.

Or maybe I have misunderstood. I stand to be corrected.
