TVRCC Sprint Championship
Discussion
Considering starting entering TVRCC sprints.
Usually trailer the both the Tivver and Pug to Track days.
Are points deducted at sprints if the car arrives on a trailer ?.

Must be one hell of a big trailer then, what do you tow it with? :hoho:

PS no there's no rule against trailering it, although you might find your mates take the p!ss from time to time unless you have a good excuse!
The TVR sprinting class is one of the last bastions of the 'run what you brung' ethos. I like to think of us (well not so much myself perhaps) being like the gentleman racers of the past. So go on - drive the TVR & sprint it!
Seriously though, if you want any help or advice on starting up sprinting/hillclimbing, I'd be happy to help, and put you in touch with more experienced competitors. There's a yahoo group for those of us competing in the TVRCC Speed Champs.
Look forward to seeing you!

There's also a sprint section on my site including some guides to Goodwood and Lydden of how not to go round... I am an acknowleged expert at this. Don't try it at home leave it to the professionals....

OK,putting the trailer aside for a moment - four more questions
1)How does Sprinting compare with a Track day - in terms of wear and tear on the car ? I would have thought sprints are short periods of very intensive driving.
Compared with an (open pit lane) Track day which (in my case) is long periods of partially intensive driving.
2)On average - how much "track time" will a Sprint offer in a day.
I realise it will be less than on a track day - as it's competition rather than just driving.
3)Roll over bars and Harnesses, are they compulsary ?.
Ive got the roll bar fitted (factory one -so not race approved-but a lot better than thin air!).
4)Which type of harness'es would i require (want them anyway) ? - Marcus what spec/make are yours ? - your bar is the same as mine if i remember correctly.
Thank you Gentlemen,in advance, for your no doubt, informative repliies

--------Sprinting is short bursts and so the tyres dont get much of a work out. I should think theres less wear in a couple of sprints than an open pitlane track day.

---------Not much, but its more intense - depends hillclimbs are usually two practice runs and two to three timed runs. As for other sprints, dont know sorry.

---------you dont need them, but I would think that harnesses are a BIG help to keep you in your seat and potentially aid your "progress" considerably. If you do a few track days or even do little blats of fast road driving I recommend harnesses and roll bars. (Dont know about the TVR one, we have a Cerb but as you say, better than nothing.)
4)----- not sure.
I hope thats helped a little, the other guys should clarify the issues I have missed/ got wrong![]()

There's a discussion forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TVR_Speed_Champ where you can download an information pack which will hopefully answer most of your questions - also regulations and an application form for the TVRCC Speed Championship. You can also get in touch with the other TVR sprinters there. Drop me a line if you have any trouble accessing it or have any other questions.
Cheers,
