Converting a left hand drive 993 to a right hand drive.
Discussion
I found a great deal on a stolen recovered 993 in the united states (New York) and i am planning to buy it. Does anyone knows how much it costs to transform a left hand drive car to a right hand drive? Do you know any shop in Uk that can do it. Do you know a place where i can buy parts? Thanks
This has been asked before and the usual answer is that it is uneconomical to do a conversion and it will probably hit resale values as well, which would be pretty low anyway given the history of your car. Just a bit of advice, make sure the 993 is genuinly worth it, all 911s are massively expensive to fix if something goes wrong.
Plenty of people run LHD Porsche's in the UK - try it.

I have one simple question. WHY ????
You are compounding your potential problems down the line.
This car will in effect have a real crisis of identity, and come resale time, any prospective purchaser will run a million miles from it, unless the price is just ridiculously low, in which case your perceived advantage from buying cheap in US will have been eroded. Between shipping, repairs and conversion, you would probably end up at the price of a cheap UK version, but come resale time, you would have to take a real hammering on the sale price. If you cannot stretch to a UK sourced one, then please consider the possibility that you will be throwing good money after bad, and this will further detract from your enjoyment of the car.
I had a 993, and believe it or not, but part, albeit a very small part of the enjoyment was due to the knowledge that I was driving something that was retaining its value.
Pleae give more thought to the problems down the road, and the conversations you will have to have with prospective purchasers.
I think it would be wiser to go for a "legit" RHD version, even if it is more expensive.

I simply wouldn't bother. 911s from 993 vintage and earlier are nicer to drive in LHD in any case. When it comes to resale, I wouldn't buy a car that had been conveted from LHD to RHD no matter what. There is no point. You can get a RHD 993 for 22K. No point skimping and messing with a car in this way. For lots of reasons.

What he said.
There is no point in converting it. There is also next to no point in buying a US spec car and bringing it to the UK.

do not bother. 996's are much easier because their bulkhead is designed to take either left or right hand drive. 964's and 993's are not. so you will need to change the front bulkhead which is very major surgery. I can put you in touch with a man that can but seriously when you look at the costs envolved either keep it as a left hooker or go buy a RHD.
