Smart Rig Shot
Discussion
Finally decided that it was time to learn how to brush the rig out myself, because i want to do some shots for fun so wont have the repro guys (who are amazing) to do it. Here is my first attempt. Its not perfect and its taken me ages
but ive learnt a lot about the various brushing tools...

Blimey, thats a significant piece of 'shopping! I never considered shots like that would be taken off a rig - is it a bit nervewracking to have your camera hanging out on a bit of scaffolding like that?
I wouldnt ordinarily have taken that shot from a rig. Far easier to do from a car in front. Benefit here of using a rig is that you can slow the shutter right down to get more woosh. Doesnt bother me having the camera on the rig... its very secure and its very insured!

you can just see some left overs from the left hand support but if you have not seen it there before you'd not know. how slow did you go. I've managed 1/6s (40mph) in the boot of a lowered saxo before.
It was 0.6 secs at f22 @ 17mm according to the exif, probably going about 10 miles an hour in neutral. When i do it from another car i set it to shutter priority at 1/30th. No point in going any slower as the hit rate will go down.

Matt, can you (or anybody else) suggest somewhere to source a good rig? The Hague stuff is a little limiting, but I'm struggling to find a supplier.
Cheers in advance

I got all my Manfrotto gear straight from the UK importer...
ARRI (GB) Ltd

I have a house in Uxbridge so I was forutate to be able to collect. I don't think they deliver but you can ask. These are the people that probably supply Hague etc.
Martin.
PS - much cheaper than list too.

you need the suckers then some pipeing and a platform for the camera. really you should be able to manipulate the bhague stuff. I'm looking to extend my twin mount
That's how I do it at the moment. The bastard offspring of a Hague double mount, a lightweight tripod with a single suction mount and lots of gaffer tape. I'm basically looking for something a little more efficient to work with and something that will be more flexible in terms of placement.
