I'm thinking of upgrading the memory on my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1630.
It has 512mb of DDR PC2700 memory. I think this consists 2x256mb. Do laptops take a certain type of memory or can i just jam in 2x512mb PC2700 lumps?

The Crucial website has an online service that can tell you what memory your PC needs.

Laptops take SO-DIMMS, basically minature versions of the stuff that goes in desktop PC's.
However you can jam anything in there these days although if your going to go with 2x512 or 2x1Gb modules (assuming your laptop can take them) it would be best to get two modules of the same speed and from the same manu' just to avoid any stability issues.
