With the best will in the world you would think people interested in this kind of car would do a little research. The title of this post is the question I've just been asked. Minus the selling woes bit 
I've not sold a car for a long time and I'd forgotten how 'interesting' it could be :
People :
1) Mailing for information when you know they have not the slightest interest in buying. Even had a guy from the states who sounded very interested until I challenged his location ...
2) Mailing for information and questions over a number of mails. Sounding very interested then buying another car without having the courtesy of telling you so they are still a prospective. Had a few of these. Maybe petty but I would have mailed me and told me I'd bought something else
3) People who are very interested and request a dvd I've done of the car. I go to the trouble of sending it but never hear from them again.
4) People who go through all the above, request my details and say they will call to arrange a visit at the weekend. They never call.
5) People who go through all the above, arrange a visit on a specific day. I stupidly wait in all day and they never turn up or answer furthur mails. Never again.

Unfortunately not everyone is as considerate as we are, I've had numerous emails from prospective sellers following my Wedge wanted ad, and have in all cases either asked for further information to help narrow the search then advised that I have now found a wedge pending removal of the wanted ad and declined politely. It doesn't take much and I'd expect the same but I'm afraid in the real world you will always get this when selling anything. Perhaps Nick you should just keep it (my personal choice as you'll only end up buying another 
), or pass it onto a TVR/classic specialist for sale or return so you don't have the hassle. Either way continued best of luck with it.

sorry nick.............Just keep it Nick. You don't need to sell. And just think - you'll be showing your little one pics of the car in x years time and they'll be asking "Why didn't you keep it Dad? You could have taken me out for rides in it!"
I'm as old as the hills now, but I still look back with great affection at the Jag my Dad had in 1960. I still nag him about selling it today! Six foot long bonnet, wire wheels, rorty exhaust. None of us kids seemed to mind it when we had to go out and push start it in our pyjamas! And well - the Ford Prefect that followed - I felt sick every time I went out in it and the Jag was super reliable compared to that crap. I've never hankered after a Ford as a result of that crap!
Jag, Dad in his RAF uniform, (replete with moustache!) and a blast up the A1 at South Mimms! Marvellous!
Don't deprive your children of their memories to come Nick.

I has a number of problems when I was selling mine last year (can't believe it's just over a year since I sold it).
First I was contacted by someone who was from Sheffield (I think), who was on business in Birmingham and asked if I was willing to meet half way (at the time I lived in Southampton). I agreed to meet in Oxford, spent half an hour looking + test drive (I did the driving), never heard back from him.
Second was someone from Essex, who was going to somewhere near Southampton on business, asked if he could pop in on his way home on that afternoon. Took day off work, spent nearly 3 hours with him (+ test drive), never heard back from him.
Interestingly, when I talked about both to my boss prior to meeting them, he bet me that I'd hear nothing from either. Good lessen learned from that!
