I went to one of those Drivers Dream Day experiences yesterday in Leicester as I had treated my Dad to an experience voucher.. I have always loved my cars and as soon as I got there, there was no way I wasn't going to have a go in one! Even though I would like to think I don't fit the usual stereotype of a woman driver and can actually handle myself.. there was no way I was going to spend my time in a fantastic car like that not experiencing what it is really capable of doing.

I also didn't realise that the guys who come to these events actually own the cars and then let other people drive them. A lovely bloke called Simon drove me round the track a couple of times and I can honestly say it is one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had... and I am glad that I asked him to put his foot down... that car was absolutely unbelievable.

It has been the only topic of discussion for me since yesterday afternoon and no doubt still will be for months to come.. I appreciate most people on here have sat in millions of sexy cars but I just had to come on here and let the world know. Have to admit it has left me feeling slightly depressed as I know I wont be setting foot in a sexy car like that for a long time... if ever.

But my god... one of the best things I have ever done, and to my friends horror my obsession with cars is about to get worse.

One thing that did annoy me was that most of my female friends who heard all about it turned around and complained about how much these places charge for taking people on high-speed passenger rides like that. As far as I am concerned its worth every penny, and I would rather spend it in a beautiful car being flung around a track than getting my nails done, as my mates suggested... oh dear!

Congrats Daniella.
A lifetime ambition fullfilled, hopefully.
But don't think you can't ever have something like a Lambo for yourself. Everyone starts somewhere and my experience is, if you want something badly enough you'll find a way to get it. It does usually involve hard work and sacrifice though. Apart from that it's dead easy!
On the subject of cost for these Dream Drive type events, I can tell you that running these cars can be very expensive. I've seen fuel consumption of around 4-5mpg when "making progress". Throw in wear to tyres and brakes, not to mention the prospect of stone chips from runway surfaces and tracks and the owner can have quite a bill himself (or herself).
Again, congratulations. Any photos?

Sounds like you had a good time! I went to Florida a few years back and went to Daytona. I did the tour around the inside of the oval and they were doing passenger rides around the track in NASCARs. They looked and sounded I was a bit short of cash at the time so didn't have a go but I really wish I had. It was only $50

Edited to say my point was that sometimes an experience of something you're unlikely to ever be able to try again is well worth a few pennies!

I agree with you 100%... at the end of the day people are letting others drive their cars which they have worked hard to get. If I had a car like that I would be the only one to get behind the wheel and no-one else! So charging to let people have a fantastic time like that is totally acceptable... I just don't understand how anyone wouldn't want to cough up for it.. as far as Im concerned its one of those rare occasions when you dont know when you're going to have the chance again.. and I simply can't describe what it felt like when he floored it!

And as much as I would like to believe I could one day own one myself... I can't see it happening. But I am definitely going to give it a try!

As for photos.. what photos are you wanting? If you want one of my car then Im sorry... seeing as though we are discussing top quality cars here it would be too embarrassing.

when i was 17 i paid a guy a fiver (20 plus years ago) to take me for a quick spin in his 911 carrera rs. it blew me away and i was hooked for ever, first on porsches then lambos. the rest is history. i have to agreee with mikey if you want something so bad and make the sacrifices, it can happen.

Thanks for your comments Daniella, yea it was me.
Another 600 miles round Bruntingthorpe this weekend and I'm shattered now. Trouble is with these events you can't do high speed passenger laps slowly cos its such good fun. Made an arse of myself today though. Was showing off and did a double doughnut in front of the crowd and managed to stall it facing the wrong way on the track. All I could see (whilst desperatly trying to restart the Murcie) was 911's, 2 Gallardo's and god knows what else teararsing towards me..Serves me right I suppose. Blo*dy hinge snapped on one of the moveable air scoops again, but apart from that Lambo's ok. Not much tread left on me tyres tho
