Trying do identify Heater Matrix

Does anyone know what car TVR Sourced the heater Matrix from? (98, 4.2 Cerby). The blower bits that attach to the aluminium housing are made by Spall.



I've been to my local parts place and had a look through their book. None of the diagrams matched on shape and size. In fact there wasn't one that was quite as narrow as this one (92mm). It has 11 rows of fins and is approx 280mm long. Do you think the factory had a company knock them up to their specifications? Looks very similar to a standard mocal oil cooler. There are no markings whatsoever on it.

Could you not get it repaired?

Ther is a place near me who does all sorts of specials.

Hadn't even thought of that. Do you know the details of the company near you? Judging by the size of it, I wouldn't expect it to be more than £40 so I'm not sure just how economical it would be to repair.

Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news - but if you've thought your Cerb seemed a bit sluggish just recently - I know what it is - someones nicked your AJP and put an old Triumph engine in !!!

LOL. Yes it has been a bit sluggish of late. Its a 32 year old engine with 100bhp per litre and 4 valves per cylinder! That's progress for you!

I found a place in Northampton that could recore the original. Cost would have been £70. For a next day turnaround I was willing to pay this even though Silverstone Performance had advised me that a new one from TVR was only £67. However, I thought it would probably take days to arrive.

As luck would have it, SP had the exact type I need in stock after it wouldn't fit a customers car. So, I've joined the heater matrix pipes together and after a short run up it seems to be leak free. I'll be dropping the car off at SP tomorrow for its 60k service, rear avo's fitting and popping the heater matrix back in.

Fingers crossed, it will be be back soon better than ever!
