And it's goodbye from him

Well, the first to arrive today was Dave from Manchester!!!.Nosed around and went for a spin.'Yep,I'll have her' Hard to believe, but my tinker toy is going to leave me.The only problem is that I have to look at the cover in the garage knowing it's not mine anymore for two weeks. Thanks to all for the info you have helped with.Still owe Mark a beer and Richard give me a bell when the steering bearing turns up.Will pop up every now and then. Now lets think in 20 years time, will a Tamora be a classic.......
Justin,
Sorry to hear the sad news. Don't give up hope though - a young family doesn't necessarily mean no TVR, and you may be able to get back into an early S or a wedge at some point in the not too distant future without too big an outlay (fingers crossed)!
I got the bearing through, but I'm not sure yet when I'm going to fit it - may well be an evening as the weekends always seem to be chocka (don't know whether that would be convenient for you?).
Cheers,
Richard

Justin,
I'm probably going to have a crack at the bearing tonight, as I have a window of opportunity.
I appreciate it's (very) short notice, so I'm prepared to have a crack at it on my own if needs be (and just hope that the captive bolts haven't been liberated! ).
If you are available, the good news is that it shouldn't be -10c, there should be enough light, and there is beer in the fridge. Unfortunately, however, although the BBQ will be present, it won't be on!
Cheers,
Richard

Bollocks - it's all gone wrong! Looks like I'm taking my wife's car to work tomorrow as the S is in pieces, one of which won't go back together...
I pretty much fell at the first hurdle, with the bolt on the UJ (where it clamps to the top section of the steering column) shearing when I tried to undo it. Having, not particularly successfully, tried to drill out the rest of the bolt, I'm fast coming to the conclusion that the only solution might be a new top UJ (unless anyone can suggest an alternative approach :crossesfingers: ).
Still, I thought I may as well try and complete the rest of the job. Managed to remove the steering column from the bearing (after a few more complications) and, of course, the bolts in the footwell aren't captive (just as everyone said) so that will be a two man job anyway. (also the bearing and housing are in the footwell rather than the engine bay - this seems contrary to my reading of the bible? )
So, Justin, I will most definitely need to take you up on your offer! :desperatelyhopingthatyou'renotallbookedup: If I email you with my number, can you give me a ring tomorrow to see what we can arrange?
Thanks,
Richard
