Major apologies for this unashamed self promotion, and I hope Ted will forgive me, but I need to do a bit of networking.

I'm a Freelance Software Engineer (a.k.a. IT Contractor) based in Hampshire, and I really need a contract.

I've got an MSc in Software Engineering and 8 years commerical experience of C++ & Visual C++ and the associated technologies like ATL, COM, STL, XML, multi-threading, etc.

I'm hoping that somewhere out there in PistonHead land there's someone who knows of a suitable contract and can save me from having to make the terrible decision of which car to chop (gulp).

Cheers guys & gals
Jon

Jon, if I were not in the same position my self, I would be heading the queue for the Elan.

Hope we both find something soon.

Have you looked on the Reed website? (www.reed.co.uk) When I was on there a while ago there were loads of banking jobs requiring C++ experience (whatever the F that is ).
Good luck

Dave

I just had a look on Jobserve.co.uk, and there are 294 matches for c++ contractors.

Surely there is something there.

Spare a thought for me, I am a (very) specialist, and there are 15 matches on jobserve, most of which are not really matches. I was in Saudi, and am now going to Switzerland, as that is where the work is for me.

Ah well, that's ok then. I'll just leave my wife and son and go wherever the work is then.

Seriously, of those 294 there are an awful lot that have already been filled or are duplicates from multiple agencies, others that require additional skills that I don't have - like financial / futures / derivatives / trading floor stuff. There are yet more that are simply too far away to commute.

Anyway, thanks for the tip-off because although I'm on the JobServe email list, I managed to see an ideal contract that was only posted up 45 mins ago! If you hadn't have caused me to go and look to see how many of your 294 hits were valid I might have not seen it for a few hours!

Glad to be of help Jon, and hope you get something soon.

I wasn't having a dig either, I have/will be leaving family (wife and 2 year old son) and have considered positions which would mean staying away during the week.
I hate doing it, but it is either that or not work.
