Hi all.
I wonder if anyone can help me on a potential problem that has happened twice on my '95 Chim - I started her up and instead of idling at her usual 900 or so RPM she was dropping right down to virtually nothing and then suddenly firing up to 2000-2500 (as though it was detecting it was about to stall). If left for a few seconds longer she would eventually stall. Upon re-starting the engine all was fine. This problem then recurred about 2 weeks later. Again, though, turning her off then straight back on she was fine... Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Very much sounds like a dirty stepper motor. Had the same symptoms before I cleaned mine. Its an easy job, did mine with an old toothbrush and some clean fuel.

Buy 'The Bible' by Steve Heath, it explains all.

Yep, I concur with the dodger & marlboro, had the same problem, cleaned stepper motor as well as the petrol cap mod. No problems since.
Hope it resolves your problem.
