Fun car - any ideas?

Hi,
Having built a Locost at university and since used a Quantum 2+2 as my everyday hack, I hope to finnally have some garage space and a second 'wet weather' car, so I can get back into kit cars. The question is - which one? Free from the need to have a watertight roof or any luggage space I can now look at some more extreme machinery!!
I want to get something raw (no pun intended) and exciting - a bike engine appeals for this reason, although I'm open to any suggestions. Despite now having the facilities I no longer have the time(!) so something with a relatively quick and straightforward build would be good. Budget is flexible, but I'd prefer to keep it lowish.
The two cars that standout at the moment are the Marlin 5exi and the Sylva R1ot.
