rough prices for Dax Rush MC (factory or self build)
Discussion
Can anyone estimate prices for Dax Rush MC powered cars, or give an idea of total cost for self build using ZX12 or Bussa power ?
I'm going to take a silly stab in the dark (perhaps for your amusement) and say that a ZX12 or Bussa would come in at about £28,000...no £25,000
.. and that a self build using the same motors would be about £20,000
many thanks - Paul
what are these bike powered cars like to build ?
- apart from building the odd model aeroplane, and making my own website from scratch I can't say I've ever delved into any kind of serious mechanical work........ although maybe the activities I've just mentions perhaps prove that I've got patience and can follow instructions...which might go part way to making a car !?

You don't need to spend that much, I believe the green ZX12 car at Dax at the moment was about £12k. That's more than you need to spend, you can build a Fireblade powered car for in the region of £8k if you use a cheaper kit like the Fisher Fury or a Striker.
The Busa engine will add £2k to the cost straight away. There's nothing wrong with Sierra brake system, steering column, a home made loom and using the bike clocks.
For £25k you could buy one of the best turbo charged busa engines cars !

I'm not really sure if I could build a car myself, in all honesty (despite previously owning a Wesfield) I'm not sure exactly which manufacturer I would go with this time, although I like Tiger, Dax, or maybe Westfield again.
..... and I'm not keen on what I call 'reverse pricing' where these companies seem to produce a car, examine it's performance, compare it to everything else thats high performance and then decide what the most is that they can ask !
I can appreciate that these companies did do plenty development work to get these bike engines to be happy in cars, but it does just seem a bit silly when you look what you actually get for the money.
I'm awaiting Dax replying with some info on various BEC's and I'll take it from there.
Personally if I have the option of building my own car using new bussa parts for about £10,000-£12,000..... or I can get a factory built turbo bussa for around £16,000-£18,000 I think they might be serious options to look at.
