anyone in the west country that specialises in refreshing my chim rear axle? It has been a bit noisy since i purchased the car in 2003, but my last major service suggested that it might need looking at. It would be nice to get the axle rebuilt, but by someone within a 50 mile radius (to Bristol)
Help as always much appreciated

Hi Shorty,
I recently had some work done on my chimaera by Dulford Automotive (a guy called Richard - formerly of Peninsula TVR I understand) and would thoroughly recommend them. My diff also needs rebuilding and will be heading to them in the next month or so. Although a little further than 50 miles (they are based in Kentisbere, Cullompton) I think it would be worth the extra travel. There seem to be few other places around the Bristol area.
Great photo on your profile by the way

Thanks Jsc! Devon is fine for me actually, i have had dealings with penninsula before and had fab service. Any idea on the costs involved?
Gloucester road gearboxes did a couple of jobs for me in the past and i had no complaints, but i am always a bit picky with the tiv if you know what i mean (more worried about test pilots)

A pleasure; regarding cost, it was suggested to me that i'd be looking at a bill of roughly £800. I think they send the diff off for refurbishment which accounts for about £500 and the other £300 is made up of labour, diff bushes (makes sense to replace them whilst its out!) and the dreaded VAT.
Let me know if you decide to send it down there - may get a group discount!!
