1980's 911 values

Hi there,

Do you think now that early boxsters values now getting down to 12-13K this is having a knock-on effect to the values of 1980's 911's? The prices of 911's of this era seems to vary hugely. I've seen cars from 7K up to over 20K. Onviously there is a difference in condition and mileage but in general it would seem that now could be a good time to buy.

Classic 911s and Boxters are miles apart in terms of driving and image so I'd be very surprised if anyone is making that decision based on price - that would be just buying into the badge for the sake of owning a Porsche....actually I guess there are people who do that but they will go for the Boxter every time!

The price of 1980's 911's really depends on which model you're buying and the condition. Maintaining these cars properly (not just servicing, but replacing oil pipes, suspension etc does cost) and so well cared for examples often justify the higher price.

The early Boxsters are easily to drive but aren't quick. The 3.2 Carrera feels alot heavier to drive due to lack of PAS etc but has the perforamnce to keep up with the Boxster S.
