OPC 111 point check - missed problem?

Just bought a car privately and paid for the OPC check (and warranty). But upon collecting the car I have noticed that the front (and possibly rear) shocks are very noisy (sounds like a few snooker balls rolling about) and can feel the knocking through the steering.
This wasn't highlighted on the car's report so now I am facing a decent sized bill, what comeback do you think I can expect from the OPC?

The OPC would not allow a warranty on your car without signing off all points (safety) - that's the whole idea. There may be plenty of 'advisories' on the report - usually wear and tear items that are not covered by the warranty anyway and are not considered dangereous.
I suggest talking to your OPC about the issue - not gunning for compensation but stating that you are concerned by the noise etc etc. There may be a perfectly reasonable explanation ..

Yep, waiting to talk to them now. My concern is that as the shocks are not a warrantable item then they'll wash their hands of it, even though I was clearly using the check to identify any issues that would affect the purchase price of the car. The car was also serviced by them 6 weeks ago, hard to believe they even test drove it...
Doesn't surprise me at all. Mine has been returned from OPC service (in no particular order) with.
1) 2 inch rip in driver's seat.
2) wiring hanging down from under dash.
3) brake fluid leaking from stripped caliper (after fluid change).
4) damaged sill plates.
5) Reported rear wiper u/s. Actually working fine.
They probably test drove another car.

The same happened to me (not the shocks though) and they did their utmost to deny responsibility. In the end after weeks of persistant phone calls and arguments, threats of legal action and a strongly worded letter to HQ I was compensated. How long ago was the inspection done? Email me the name of the OPC and I'll let you know if its the same one.
