Sagaris 6000 mile service
Discussion
Amid the doom and gloom around at the moment I thought I'd share with you all my full niggles list for my 6000 mile service. This is what's wrong with my car after a year's ownership.
1. Drivers side wiper 'overwipes' slightly, causing it to touch the rubber windscreen surround.
2. A warning code came on once, albeit for less than a second, so I've aksed the dealer to see if they can find it on the diagnostic check.
So that's the negatives then.
Positives remain intact and increase with use. The drive is spectacularly intense and thrilling. The engine is relentlessly mighty and the car has the controls, the feel and the chassis the downright competence to savour every rev. That TVR have made a 380+ bhp, 1100kg car handle the way it does is honsestly remarkable. The engine's montrous power comes in higher up the rev range is a big part of this, as is the long travel throttle. They work brilliantly.
I can remember single corners with crystal clarity. Just one of the many hundreds I enjoyed on Monday would be at a junction turning onto the M27 motorway just outside Southampton. Not a very exciting piece of road, just a very exciting car. Second gear round the big roundabout above the motorway then feel the front load up and grip and grip some more at the apex, then squeeze the throttle, feel the grip increase at the rear, time to push further into the throttle as the road straightens up but can I use the full beans just yet? Head says 'not yet', car says 'what the hell are you waiting for?' Full bananas applied and the thing just hooks up and catapults me down the gentle incline of the slip road and onto the motorway. An uncontrollable urge to 'yeeha!' gets the better of me again before needing to apply the brakes bring the whole thing down to match the motorway traffic!
Autocar have said the cars have never been better. My experience would seem to back this up. I've never enjoyed driving a car as much.

Pits, had the same with the wipers.
Both bonnets off, alun bolt out, lift and shift two splines and drop back on.
Re warning code, found the ac system had de-gassed as a result of a union backing itself off. It's possible the occasional blip might relate to that, worth checking. That's an uninformed guess mind you.
Totally agree with the driving experience - will find out more when we get to the Nurburgring in May.

A word of warning on the wiper problem.
I had a similar issue with my passenger wiper hitting the bottom of the screen surround. The factory did something to adjust it but then the blade didn’t sit at 90 degrees to the screen. This misalignment wasn’t apparent until last Friday when I did a long high speed journey in the rain. At speed the wind can now flex the wiper just enough that the metal retainers for the rubber blade touch the glass.
I now have a big scratch on my windscreen to be sorted next week at its 12K service.
So make sure the blade is correctly at 90 degrees to the screen after they adjust it.

rpa.janwell, does your insurer cover the 'ring or have you taken out some sort of trackday cover? I'm with Privilege and they specifically exclude derestricted toll roads, i.e. the Nurbergring. I've tried a few other insurers and they all say they won't cover it.

Still struggling with it!! Will let you know when I've nailed it.

I'm going to the Nurburgring for Sunday 30th and will be there hopefully for Monday 1st May and maybe 2nd too. Then it's off to Spa for two days. I have a Caterham 7 too but will definitely be taking the Saggy round for a few laps. Should be epic!
Pits, don't want to hijack a thread - YHM
great news ...Im must concur that the new cars leaving the factory appear to be leagues ahead now in terms of fit, finish and overally build quality.
Compared to our old 2001 Tuscan, our new Sagaris is like a German car
Wehn we picked it up I went around it with a fine toothcomb and couldnt find any 'snags' ...no traces of glue, unfinished edges, loose stitching, dodgy door seal trim etc ..on the old Tuscan there were lots of small niggles like this.
The complete snag list for the first service was to adjust passenger side window wiper and a door catch

No matter what you drive some local golf will come past on 3 wheels, part of the charm of the place
There is some good 'ring related stuff on www.justgofaster.com - check out the photolap in the wiki.
Sounds like TVR are upping their game, hopefully not too late...

Spooky co-incidences
1) the only thing bugging me with my Sag is the flapping of one wiper at high speed
2) that slip onto the M27 was my memorable moment of 2005 when I'd just run in my T350. Totally deserted on a Friday night and off the bottom at 130. It is an amazing stretch for piling on the power. Can't wait to go back and try it in the Sag.
Cheers
