Well guys I am back home in Düsseldorf with my baby after the visit to the factory but I am afraid I have to disappoint you because the powers that be would not let me take my camera in with me which is a shame because the main production line was stuffed with 997 turbos Had a close look at a couple of finished ones and all I can say is that is one mean looking machine, and I wish those wheels would fit on my Cayman!
Also I cannot be 100% sure of this because our guide would not confirm or deny it but I think I saw a prototype GT2! red slighly cammoflaged ddrive straight past us. Was not a GT3 or S as it had 2 single pipes positioned liked the standard car ie left and right and not centre and a ruddy great wing on the back. Now I invite anyone to correct me but I am pretty sure it was an überporsche!!
As for the rest of the day I can highly recommend the factory pick up, hospitality is excellent, good lunch and as for the handover expierience- AWESOME.
You wait in the reception area after the factory tour with some other customers and then you are escorted one by one by your own porsche advisor up to the first floor where you enter a spotless room with about 10 or so cars neatly lined up.
At first I couldn´t see all the cars but as I rounded a corner there she was waiting for me, that is a feeling I will never forget seeing my Cayman S for the first time.
You are then shown everything on the car with a typical German attention to detail (takes about 30mins)and after signing for your car you get to drive it out of the factory.
If any of you are thinking of doing the pick up don´t think, go for it as any true car enthusiast would love it and if you are saying err its a bit of a drive back to blighty then you should have met the guys collecting a black 997 S4 next to mine.
They were from Wyoming for gods sake!!!!
Picking the car up personally driving around Germany for 2 days then sticking the car on a ship and waiting 45 days for delivery. Brilliant.
Anyway sorry there are no piccies of the tour etc but I will try and upload some of my car asap.
Got to go now,I need to go for another

I guess 40 days is the difference between waiting till you get a boat load to go from Finland to Sheerness verses a train from Finland to Stuttgart...!
PS: In my experience, its just worth checking that the alarm etc and everything else functions correctly - As the car has been coded up in Germany they are not necessarily great at setting them up for our specific UK requirements - (but sounds like yours is living in Germany any how? So might not be UK spec?.... Just a thought anyhow....)
