A big thank you to LeeBee for fixing my door hinges. I think the creaking passenger door must have put off a couple of people who came to view the car at the end of last year (I tried my best to put people off and happily got a job so now can keep it ) and the drivers door was starting to sag a bit. I had the door panels off before christmas and things looked broken and very complicated so dropped LeeBee a line. He has crafted me a new hinge on the passenger side and the same on the drivers side and fixed the merrily spinning 'captive' nut on the drivers side. Both sides now open beautifully and I can now take passengers again without people a mile away looking to see who the hell is making that awful creaking noise when they open the door.

Many thanks Lee for fitting me in and I'd recommend him to do the same for your car any day of the week.

All the best,

Mark

Edited to add: now saving up for the switches and other alloy/aluminium bits - they look very nice indeed.

Have the door card off and get some oil on the hinges. With a bit of luck you'll lube them up a bit. Mine creaked because of the hinge had broken but I understand that there's a bush in there too which can where out (although that would cause the door to sag I expect). My advice is to get them sorted as soon as you can. The longer you leave the hinges I suspect the more they'll seize up and then you may not be able to remove the hinge bolt without disturbing the captive nut in the sill which you really do not want to do.

Good luck,

Mark
