GT2 at Paragon

R1 Jon, if you're referring to the black RHD "GT2" for sale, I'd take a look here : - www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?p=2&f=&t=204991&h=0 and carefully read page two, it makes this car at Paragon car look a relative "bargain" IMO.
Was thinking about this and I really don't get why anyone would spend £140k on a 993 GT2 unless they had near limitless funds available. For that money you could buy a 996 GT3 Mk2 and a 996 GT2 and still have money in your pocket.
I've never been in a 993 GT2 are they really that special in any way?

OK, but please someone elaborate. Is it the handling, the power, the whole package? The sense of occassion in it being the last and greatest of the air-cooled?

for the same reason you can buy a 430 and a 355 for the price of an f40.
special? oh yes. looks, performance, noise, reliability, rarity. i can only compare it to cars ive driven in anger in which case i'd have to say it's the bizzare lovechild of a caterham r500 and a murcialago, with some 964rs trim thrown in

special? oh yes. looks, performance, noise, reliability, rarity. i can only compare it to cars ive driven in anger in which case i'd have to say it's the bizzare lovechild of a caterham r500 and a murcialago, with some 964rs trim thrown in
Ok, I'm kind of understanding now. But, to me it seems a very different comparison with the Fezzas. I wouldn't question someone paying way more cash for an F40, I can see why that is way more special and on another level performance wise to a 355 or 430.
But with the 993 GT2 in standard trim, is it really that much better than a 996 GT2 or GT3 mk2?

im not sure the performance of an f40 and a 430 are that different. didn't EVO do a test a few months ago?

For most road use a 430 will blow an F40 away. Power to weight ratio of an F40 better but difficult to use. All the electrics on a 430 makes it alot easier to use most of the power.
Never been out in a 993 GT2 but understand why they are so special. Super quick car (Vic - I hope new one faster than the old one!!!) with zero depreciation. Would love to own one at some point in future.
I've been chauffeured around Oulton in Vics blue car , trust me, it's worth every penny of the asking price.
As an ex 993 RS owner I can honestly say the GT2 makes the NA car look pedestrian.
If the GT2 is as feelsome from behind the wheel as the RS was (and I've no reason to suspect it's not) it is a much more involving driving experience than the 996 GT2 could ever be.
(As the 993 GT2 had different rear suspension/subframe mountings than those of the RS, I'd even venture to say it would be even better than the RS)

It's true Porsche aren't going to build anymore but for £100k+ you could a replica that would give the same driving experience ( if not better) but just wouldn't have the provenance of the real thing.
