Replacing brake master cylinder
Discussion
After some advice from GreenV8S and John57 I've established that I need to replace the brake master cylinder on my 98 Griff due to a sinking brake pedal. Apparently a pig of a job.
I live in France but luckily I am back in the UK next week so will pick up a new unit then. I'll also at the same time purchase a copy of the TVR Bible (until now I'd been expecting to buy a 2nd hand copy).
I've had a search on the forums and can find little on the replacement of the unit. Given that I'd like to get the old one removed asap, so that on my return from the UK at the end of next week I can have car back on the road, was wondering whether anyone might have simple instructions on dismantling. I've removed drivers seat and spent some time down in the pedal box area this evening but it's not immediately evident from this in which order to do things.
Most grateful for any help.

First you have to remove the steering column .Remove the cowling near the wheel (three posidrive screws in the lower half) and unplug the electrics then undo the 5 screws that hold the bearing in the footwell and undo the UJ in the wheelarch next to the bulkhead .Undo the 2 13mm bolts that secure the column to the underside of the dash and you should be able to remove the column .Undo the hydraulic pipes where they go through the footwell and disconnect the accelerator cable .There are 6 bolts holding the pedalbox , 4 from the engine bay by the VIN plate and 2 in the wheelarch in a line about 5 cm up from where the steering column exits . These two are normally covered in a mound of dumdum and are not captured . Pull of the wires for the brake light switch and the pedal box should come out ! (as long as I have remembered everything ) The 2 nuts securing the master too the servo are now obvious , GOOD LUCK , David

A very very good friend came round this evening to give me a hand. After three hours (nb shpub, thanks for tip but I'd already taken seat out as it is with retrimmers to have some reshaping done), amazingly we were still smiling and had the pedal box out.
We decided, looking at the clutch master cylinder, not to disconnect the hydraulic pipes on this, but simply took out the pushrod to make it easier to remove the box. We also have yet to remove the servo and master cylinder having also left the pipes from these attached to the manifold on the bulkhead
I've left the hydraulic fluid to drain overnight from front rt brake bleed nipple but I guess there'll still be fluid in the three pipes when I disconnect them from the manifold tomorrow morning. I'm presuming it's then just a case of carefully removing the dum-dum around the reservoir, for the servo with master cylinder and hydraulic pipes attached to be pulled out.
Assuming all goes well I'm in the UK next week and will pick up a new master cylinder.
Cheers

ps shpub, can I order a couple of TVR Bible directly from you?

The quickest way of getting the bible is from the TVRCC. +44 1952 822126 office@tvrcc.com
And the club office are very quick at getting it sent out - arrived about 1.5 days after placing order (That said Lancashire is a bit closer than France!).
Wife did not hear a word out of me for 3 days after the book arrived, as I read it cover-to-cover. She reckons this makes it exceedingly good value for money. Wish someone could write a similarly effective book for 3yr old boys.......
